Community Outreach 3

Develop a priority community initiative your club can drive or support

Why - Your club is taking a lead and creating something to ‘hang your hat on’ by taking a key role in a community environmental initiative.

The networking and shared experiences of a community initiative will help raise awareness of your project while creating another opportunity for your members to get involved in making a difference.

How – Consult with your members to find a well-suited initiative your club can lead or support, eg a wetland regeneration project, a local Predator Free NZ project or a mussel restoration project.

Look for partners to include in your project.

Contact your local council or local board for existing environmental projects you can contribute to.

Research existing local groups or organisations looking for further participants or support.

Promote the initiative with your members, set goals, promote and publicise your actions and successes.
